Some of our Spokane guests have been coming to see us for years. We know their kids' names, their coffee order, and the vacation they've been planning all year. So when wildfires started pushing families out of their homes across the region, this stopped feeling like news was happening somewhere else. It's happening to our neighbors.

That's why every Gene Juarez salon is now fundraising for Spokane wildfire relief. Every dollar we raise, and honestly, every bit of heart we're pouring into this, is going toward two organizations already doing the hard work on the ground: Project Beauty Share and the City of Spokane's H.O.M.E. Starts Here initiative. Here's what we're doing, why it matters so much to us, and how you can be part of it the next time you visit.

Why Spokane, and Why Now

Wildfires have pushed families out of their homes across the Spokane region, and it's put real pressure on a support system that didn't have much slack to begin with. A shelter bed can be found quickly. Feeling human again takes a little more. A shower. Clean clothes. A hairbrush that isn't shared with three other people. These small things matter more than we usually give them credit for, and they're exactly what's in short supply right now for families who left home with almost nothing.

Gene Juarez has been called the Pacific Northwest home for decades, and our River Park Square salon has been part of the Spokane community for a long time too. So, when we say this community is our community, we mean it. Our neighbors are hurting, and we're not the kind of people who sit that out. 

Our Partners in This Effort

Project Beauty Share exists to restore a sense of dignity to women and families going through hard times, by getting them the hygiene and beauty essentials that assistance programs so often overlook. They've launched a Wildfire Relief Fund to get soap, shampoo, deodorant, and other everyday necessities straight into the hands of families who've been displaced.

H.O.M.E. Starts Here is the City of Spokane's broader strategy for tackling housing instability and homelessness, and right now its donation fund is being directed toward neighbors affected by the fires, everything from emergency support to the longer road back to stability.

Together, these two partners cover what displaced families need on both ends: dignity today, and a real path forward. 

How Your Visit Helps

Our River Park Square team has already started collecting product donations from generous local merchants and guests, and we'd love to open that up to our whole Gene Juarez community, whether you're around the corner or across the state.
 We're also putting our own shelves to work. To date we have donated over 7,280 personal care items ... and counting!  A couple of our leading product suppliers have generously stepped up alongside us, donating product that we're getting straight into the hands of families who need it. It's one more way we're showing up, on top of everything our guests and merchant partners give.

Here's how you can join in. 
1.    Book a service. Add a donation to your next haircut, color, or spa treatment. Just ask your stylist or the front desk to add it to your ticket, it takes seconds.
2.    Shop with purpose. Grab your favorite shampoo, styling product, or a gift card, and give a $1.00 and goes straight to the fund.
3.    Donate product. Bring new beauty and hygiene items by our River Park Square salon. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and deodorant are always welcome and always needed.
4.    Tell someone. Share this with a friend, tag us, or simply bring someone in for a service. More guests through our doors means more support for Spokane families.
